Pinakates is considered to be one of the best preserved of the 24 villages in Pelion and therefore became a category 1-protected landmark.

Pelion is a mountain at the southeastern part of Thessaly, forming a hook-like peninsula between the Pagasetic Gulf and the Aegean Sea.

The modern city of Delphi is immediately west of the archaeological site of the same name.

Meteora are monasteries built on high rock pillars. Centuries of wind and water erosion have given the rock formations their specific appearance.
